What is Korfball?

Korfball is a ball sport played by mixed teams (four men and four women per team). If you imagine crossing basketball and netball you've got a fair idea of what korfball looks like, but it's quite distinct from both. It's fast moving, skilful, non-contact and very much dependent on teamwork. Click here for a short introduction from the English Korfball Association's website or here for our own printable beginner's leaflet. Put simply, Korfball is great.

Fancy having a go?

New members and beginners are always welcome, and most of the coaching will be pitched with new players in mind. You'll be surprised how quickly you learn!

Where do we train?

From April 8th onwards, we will train at the South Cheshire College, on Dane Bank Avenue (just off Nantwich Road) in Crewe. The college is about a 15 minute walk from Crewe's train & bus stations, and has loads of parking space. A map with directions to the College is available here. Most training sessions will be held in the main sports hall (indoors), but a we will play outdoors (just outside the sports hall) for most of May and June, when the hall is in use for exams.

How much does it cost?

Your first two training sessions are completely free of charge. After that, the sessions will cost £3 each (£2 for under-17's and students). All of the money will go to cover the cost of hiring the hall and buying new equipment for the club.

Can't make it on Tuesdays?

If korfball sounds like it's for you, but you can't make it to the sessions in Crewe on a Tuesday night, why not try Castle Korfball Club, based in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Castle train on Wednesday evening, 8-10pm, at Keele University, and are always looking for new members. More details are available at Castle's own website!
